Maryam Salk is a collage artist and painter based in Los Angeles. Raised in Dubai, she studied Fine Art and Art History at the American University of Paris, followed by a degree in Interior Design from FIDM in LA.

She’s been making art since she could hold scissors, using her synesthesia to craft work that’s rooted in emotion, memory, and nostalgia. Her collages—cut entirely by hand from a blend of vintage and contemporary magazines—breathe new life into forgotten imagery, offering each piece a renewed sense of story and presence.

The ocean often finds its way in—through color, rhythm, and atmosphere—as do traces of late 20th-century glamour and the ever-present hum of Los Angeles.

Every piece on this site is analog, intentional, and made with care.

Portland Vase Studies (2024-2025)

Mythology, eternal muse—

Our lens shifts, but society’s fascination remains steadfast.
In this series, fragmented vases—modeled after the Portland Vase—are reimagined through magazine cutouts. Classical silhouettes meet contemporary desire, collapsing time and gaze. A meditation on beauty, objecthood, and stories we still tell.
